To help UK film thrive on the best talent with the highest level of skills, Skillset funds a range of schemes targeting new entrants and the existing workforce across the industry.

We fund existing schemes that are already delivering what the industry needs, run bursaries to make it easier for freelancers to get the training they want, and create our own schemes to fill the gaps in current training provision.

Trailblazers

2009 marked the third year of Trailblazers, a joint initiative between the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) and Skillset showcasing new UK filmmaking talent.

Essential Legal Framework Series: Rights Clearance, 1st-5th December 2010 in Baden, Austria

As part of their Essential Legal Framework series, the Erich Pommer Institut (EPI) presents their Rights Clearance seminar, funded by MEDIA . This workshop and seminar is now open for applications. Taking place from 1st to 5th December 2010 in Baden (near Vienna), Austria, Skillset is able to offer five bursaries to UK-based professionals working in film.

Escape Studios' 3D for Visual Effects 12-week course

Escape Studios are running '3D for Visual Effects', a full-time 12-week course for aspiring artists. It includes hands-on practical training using the latest industry standard software and techniques.

Skillset Film Academy News: new MA in Film Curating at the London Film School

Top academic institution the London Consortium and internationally renowned postgraduate facility the London Film School (LFS), A Skillset Film Academy, are teaming up to offer the first ever postgraduate degree in Film Curating.

Power to the Pixel presents the Pixel Lab, a 7-day residential course - now open for applications. The Pixel Lab will take place from 4-10 July 2010 in Cardiff. The Lab will focus on the creation, finance and distribution of cross-media projects to create sustainable European media businesses.
